  • WHERE SHOULD I PARK?
There are city designated parking spaces all around Ybor City that is pay by plate. There is also 2 city of Tampa parking garages located close by. Additionally, there is also a parking lot right next to the shop, which is $8-$10 for the day, unless a special event is going on in Ybor.
  • HOW DO I GET A TATTOO DESIGNED FOR ME?
For now, Fill out the contact page completely and you will get a response usually within a week. I will set up a consult appointment to meet at the shop within the week and discuss your ideas. Bring any reference pictures with you and it helps if you know the following information...Black & Grey or Color, Size, and Placement. I will also make recommendations to help you get the best possible tattoo and will be able to estimate the cost. If you decide to move forward, I require a drawing deposit that comes off price of the tattoo, payable at the time of the consult. The deposit will vary from $100-$300, depending on the size of the tattoo. If your tattoo can be done in one session, your drawing deposit will be refunded the day of your tattoo appointment. If your tattoo requires multiple sessions, your drawing deposit will come off the very last session. Appointments to begin will be made at the consult, usually starting within a week or two, or more, depending on how booked up my schedule is. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to reschedule your appointment or you will forfeit your deposit. All artwork will be available at the time of the appointment, not earlier.
  • CAN I WALK IN AND GET TATTOOED?
No, Crown Jewel Tattoo is a private, appointment only studio. However, please text 813-608-1818 for availability. I may be able to get you in same day, depending on the design.
  • HOW MUCH DO TATTOOS COST?
Tattoos start at $100…I charge $200/hour for larger tattoo projects like sleeves and backpieces. For coverup tattoos and re-working old tattoos, I charge $250/hour. If the tattoo is smaller and will take less than 2 hours, It's priced by the design. Tips are always appreciated but never expected. If you do tip, 10-20% is customary.
  • DOES IT HURT TO GET A TATTOO?
It can hurt to get a tattoo, however, pain is relative. Some people have a higher pain tolerance than others and certain parts of the body hurt more. For example, tattoos on arms and legs seem to hurt less than ribs or lower back locations. My opinion is the outline of a tattoo hurts more than shading or coloring. I describe the feeling as a stinging or burning sensation. There are many starts and stops within a tattoo, so I feel that the pain is tolerable. Over the years, I have learned that it is best to try to relax all muscles from head to toe and go with the flow. It hurts more if you are tense and fight the tattoo process. If you can sit relaxed and still during a tattoo, it will take less time. Less time equals less pain, which is a win/win in my book.
  • WHAT SHOULD I DO THE NIGHT BEFORE I GET TATTOOED?
You should get a good night's sleep and eat healthy the day before you get tattooed. Drinking alcohol is not recommended the night before, instead, drink a lot of water so that you are well hydrated before you get your tattoo. Consider the clothes that you will wear to your appointment... There is a chance that ink may get on your clothes, so don't wear anything too fancy. Think about the area where your tattoo will be placed. Clothes that allow easy accessibility to the location is ideal.
  • WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME TO GET TATTOOED?
You will need to bring your ID and credit card and/or cash. Bring water, gum, candy...anything to help you get through the tattoo. Some people like to bring their headphones and iPod, so they can listen to their own music. Others, bring an iPad and earphones to watch downloaded Tv shows or movies, especially on a longer tattoo session. Books are also a good distraction. Be sure to bring your camera/ phone so you can take pics of your new tattoo!
  • CAN I BRING A FRIEND WITH ME?
Yes, you are more than welcome to bring a maximum of 2 friends to your tattoo consultation or appointment.
  • CAN I BRING MY KID WITH ME?
No children are allowed at Crown Jewel Tattoo.
  • HOW DO I CARE FOR MY NEW TATTOO?
I use two methods to heal tattoos...You will have either a Saran Wrap type bandage on your new tattoo that is removed between 1-24 hours or a Sani-Derm bandage that you remove after 3 days. We will discuss which option is best for you after you get tattooed. ***IF YOU HAVE A SARAN WRAP BANDAGE*** -Leave bandage on for 1-2 hours minimum and up to 24 hours maximum. When you remove this during this time frame is completely up to you. -Remove Bandage and hand wash throughly with soap and rinse clean. Do not re-bandage tattoo. -Pat dry with clean towel. -Wash tattoo once a day in the shower. No soaking the tattoo in baths or swimming is allowed until healing is complete. -Apply lightweight hand lotion 2-3x day as needed, beginning the next day after you get tattooed. Always make sure your hands are clean before applying lotion. Some acceptable name brands of lotions you can use are Lubriderm, Curel, Eucerin, Aveeno...Any type of lightweight, moisturizing hand lotion. Less lotion is more...dry and moisturized is the goal, not wet and shiny looking. -Do not get sun on your new tattoo until healed. After healing, always put sunscreen on tattoo to keep colors looking bright. -Do not pick or scratch tattoo while healing. _______________________________________________________________________________ ***IF YOU HAVE A SANI-DERM BANDAGE*** -Leave the bandage on for 3 days. With a Sani-Derm bandage, you do not have to do anything to your tattoo for 3 days. No washing it, or applying lotion while the bandage is on. If a fluid pocket fills up in the bandage the night of or next morning after you get tattooed, carefully peel back a small corner of the bandage and let it drain onto a clean paper towel. Then, press the corner back down onto skin. -After 3 days, I recommend getting into a steamy shower for 5 minutes and then carefully remove the Sani-Derm bandage. It will not stick to your tattoo, but it will stick to skin. Be extra careful removing so this doesn't happen! -Wash tattoo with soap and water. Rinse and pat dry with a clean towel. -Apply lotion to tattoo 2-3 times daily until dryness goes away, usually 4-7 days after you remove the bandage. See the above aftercare for examples of lotions. -Please email me at Jenlynntattoo@gmail.com if you have questions.
